Moutain View Parade this Saturday!

Meet 9am near Hope and Villa Streets.  (We never get the exact location until that morning.)

Parade starts at 10am.  (Bateria wear all white.  Your choice on hats.)

In Memoriam

Regretfully, we share the news that Olga Outz passed away last December.

Olga was a great contributor to Samba Mundial.

She played Tamborim in the Bateria for many years, perhaps longer than any other drummer (save Brad and Ted).  She was also our most consistent class attendee and could always be counted on to perform at our gigs.

Olga also served on the Board of Directors for the Samba Mundial Non-Profit Corporation.

Her contributions over the years are greatly appreciated and she will be greatly missed!

Hey folks -

Our Web Site was down for almost a year but it is back!

For Dance Class information check the Samba Mundial Group page on Facebook.

There are currently no drum classes being offered by Samba Mundial. Private Lessons are available by request.

G.R.E.S. Samba Mundial offers drum and dance classes covering a wide variety of styles and ability levels.  We are dedicated to promoting cross-culturalism through Brazilian music and dance.  We offer classes to newcomers to introduce them to Brazilian forms and turn them into Brazilophiles, as well as classes for veteran Brazilophiles who need an outlet in the South Bay and on the Peninsula.  We meet every week on an ongoing basis.

Please visit the links below for more information about specific classes.

Learn the basics.  Dance to Samba Reggae, Samba Batucada, Samba de Roda, and a few other folkloric forms.  It's a great way to sweat & shake off your work week and meet a nice bunch of people!

Ongoing Classes and Rehearsals:

Note:  Your first visit to our Wednesday night classes is free, but you will be asked to give us your name and email address (or phone number).  Since our agreement for use of the space at the Recreation Center precludes us from offering services on a drop-in basis, we ask that you buy a student membership if you decide to attend classes after your first visit.  On any given night, one of us will be acting as Registrar and can fill you in on the details of membership levels and costs.
